Clutch repair refused under warranty

My daughter recently took her 1.2 ecotec Corsa in to Evans Halshaw York for the 20,000 service (at 22k miles) and told them the clutch was juddering.

The car is still within the 2 year warranty, and whilst she was told that Vauxhall was aware of the problem, they stated they imposed a 'cut-off' mileage of 18,000m and therefore they would not be prepared to cover any cost.

Putting aside the fact that she considered the staff to be very arrogant and rude to her, could you advise where she stands with regard to this matter, particularly as Vauxhall admit there is an inherent problem?

As an aside I have a Nissan, and the dealer is just as unhelpful and arrogant - There seems to be a total disconnect with the consumers who ultimately pay their wages!

No manufacturer offers more than a limited warranty on a clutch and an aftermarket warranty underwriter regards it as a wearing part and therefor not covered. (Simply, a driver could completely destroy a clutch in 10 minutes if he wanted to.)
