Assault on battery
I'm confused with all the data one reads in the newspaper regarding battery driven cars. These are the facts that I have read. Are they correct?
1.Price £20,000 to £30,000
2.To renew batteries £8,000
3.Average distance to travel 200 miles.
4.If during Winter, one has the heater on - consumes battery charge 50%.
5.If air conditioning is on - consumes battery charge 25%
6.If 4/5 in car, distance one could travel under 100 miles

This doesn't include the pollution caused by Britain's oil and coal powered power stations that produce the electricity. (Though charging overnight apparently avails you of clean French Nuclear fuel cabelled across under the English Channel.) Unless electric cars have range extending petrol engines like the Vauxhall Ampera and Plug in Prius III they are generally unsuitable for anything apart from town and suburban use and this is where the emphasis should be. Making pure electric cars travel 200 miles + is just ridiculous.
