I'd like a Volkswagen Golf but should I consider a Polo?

I have read that the new Volkswagen Polo is not a lot smaller than the Golf, but a fair bit cheaper. I was considering a Golf, but this buyer's guide recommends that I take a look at the Polo as well. From what I have read, I like the Polo - but what do you think?

Strangely the Golf VI with the 1.2 TSI felt better. Tested here with the 1.2 TSI: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/volkswagen/vw-polo.../

If thinking of a Polo, don't dismiss the SEAT Ibiza. Same car underneath, but cheaper, much more stylish, and built about 250 miles east of the Polo in Northern Spain.
