Can we have our BMW X5's headlights adjusted for use on the continent?

We are HM Forces stationed in Germany. We have just bought a right-hand drive BMW X5 and were assured by the seller that we did not need to buy continental headlights as the lights could be adjusted. We have now been told that we DO need to buy continental Xenon lights at a cost of EU1000! Does anyone know if we can have the lights adjusted for long term use ?

This is a list of all the cars with switchable dip that I know of: Audi TT Mk I, BMW E46 3-Series, BMW E39 5-Series, BMW E92 3-Series coupes, Ford Focus II (with adaptive lighting), Ford Mondeo with bi-Xenon headlights, Ford Cougar, Lexus IS, Saab 9-3 Sports Wagon (lights dip down, not to the side), Skoda Roomster, Skoda Superb Mk 1 (has levers, but fiddly to get at), Skoda Superb II Elegance (electrically), Vauxhall Calibra, Vauxhall Vectra 2002 - 2005, Vauxhall Signum 2002 - 2005, Volkswagen Passat from 2001 - 2005, Volvo XC90 with Directional bi-Xenon headlights, and Honda Accords with Xenons have flat dip headlights so no need to switch.

The Jaguar X-Type has a switch to prevent dazzle when driving on the right. The Jaguar S-Type has a switch to prevent dazzle when driving on the right, and most Mercedes-Benz can be switched to dip down rather than to the left.
