What supermini do you recommend?

I used to recommend the Mazda 2 because it's a jewel of a little car, but there have been some problems with a/c and build quality. The alternative is the new Suzuki Swift 1.0T Boosterjet, preferably the 6-speed torque converter automatic.

We are looking for a car that my 18 year old daughter can use (currently a learner driver) but must also accommodate her sister's wheelchair on occasion. Is there anything that would work for us?
