How are the tappets in my Rover 416 1.6-litre twin cam engine adjusted?

I've got a Rover 416 1.6 twin cam. Recently my tappets have got noisy and I was told by the garage that it has self-adjusting tappets. What can I do about this?

If this is the Honda engine, it has solid lifters that need to be adjusted by re-shimming.
