What's causing my Volkswagen Golf to emit smoke and lose power?
I was recently driving my Volkswagen Golf MkIV on the motorway and I lost all power, and white smoke was billowing out, but the car would still drive. I replaced the turbo and, after replacing the turbo, the car now revs like crazy and spills out smoke everywhere. The revs go through the roof and stay there until the ignition is switched off. Please help.

What lead you to replace the turbo in the first instance? Reason I ask is that white smoke normally indicates a number of things, ie engine or pump timing out, low engine compression, or water or petrol in the fuel. White smoke is not normally related to the turbo, so I'm not sure if you have resolved the original problem.
