Why is my Renault Clio backfiring, and where can I get a maintenance manual for it?

My Renault Clio 1.4 is backfiring. What could it be, and where can I get hold of engine layout for it?

You don't say if you have had any work done to the car. The reasons for backfiring are many, but one main area is the vehicle's ignition timing. I would suggest that this is checked over first.

When you say engine layout, do you mean a maintenance manual? If so, you can get one for your car at emanualonline.com which will cost £9.99.
