Why is my Jaguar diesel misfiring after short journeys?

I'm having problems with my 2.2-litre Jaguar since the purchase of an ex-demo. If I drive one mile to the next village and stop and restart the car, say within 2-3 mins, then drive back at lower revs, I sometimes find the car misfires and I have to accelerate in a lower gear to correct it. Having said that, when the engine is fully warm it seems ok. I've complained to the Jaguar dealer at service intervals - they say that they can't find a problem under warranty. They say they have replaced the injectors and latest map (the car is now out of warranty). I find it is worse when I run on high performance diesel. I have since had the car remapped and this only made things far worse.

When you start from cold the DPF fills up with particulates that are supposed to be burned off later in the car's journey. In your case there is no 'later'. The car is unsuitable for repeated short runs from cold.
