Flaking Aluminium Wheels after at only 2 years old. Is this a common problem

After only two years I noticed the coating on the spokes on two of my aluminium wheels were peeling. This was pointed out at the cars second free service. The service manager advised me he would replace the two wheels under waranty but prefered to leave it until the final service by then the other two wheels would probably show signs he then could replace all four wheels, they would then all match which he said might not be the case if he only changed two. Is this a common with Honda?

It's a result of the stupidity of simply coating polished alloy with clearcoat lacquer. Looks good to some people's eyes in the showroom, but is not durable in UK winter road salt. Only ever buy alloy wheels that are painted, then lacquered., unless, of course, you accept that your car will be a pampered showcar and you are prepared for the expense of regular alloy wheel refurbs.
