Buying an new Audi A1 Sportback - petrol or diesel?

I am in the process of buying a new Audi A1 Sportback, but I cannot decide between the 1.0-litre 95PS petrol or the 1.6-litre 116PS diesel. The diesel is £18 a month more and I do 12,000 miles a year mixed driving. What do you recommend?

If you are merely leasing it and don't intend buying it to keep beyond the three year term then the diesel will give better performance and fuel economy during the three year lease and you may regard that as worth the extra £18 a month. You might be able to improve the deal by sticking to 16" wheels and 55 profile tyres rather than anything fancy. They give a much better ride and the tyres last longer.
