My Mazda Eunos's suspension collapsed after an MoT - is the MoT tester liable?

I recently bought a 14-year-old Mazda Eunos. The car came with a brand new mot and 6 months tax. The MoT was carried out on 20 May 2010 and will run out on 25 June 2011. I have covered roughly 700 miles in the three weeks that I have owned the car. On the 25/6/2010 I was reversing into a parking space and on full lock I heard a huge cracking noise. To my horror the suspension strut had collapsed and my nearside front wheel was leaning at a 45 degree angle. I have spoken to the garage where the AA have taken my car for repair and they have informed me that I may have a case against the MoT tester for negligence. Can you advise me on the best course of action and whether I have a case against the MoT tester?

It depends why it collapsed. If it fell out of its top bearing, and if that didn't happen while the car was suspended for its MoT, then it isn't something the MoT tester could have predicted.
