Why is my Hyundai Verna diesel suffering from repeated turbo failures?
I have a Hyundai Verna diesel CRDI VGT which has done 17,000km. I have had turbo failures three times - the third time was when I was coming out of the service centre after a new turbo was fixed for the second time. My car is well maintained with regular services. Every time they say that the shaft is broken. It occurs on acceleration.

I'd guess that the turbo has been replaced without the intercooler being cleaned out or itself replaced. When the failures occur, the intercooler gets filled up with engine oil from the turbo. If this is not cleaned out, the turbo can't rotate properly so its bearings heat up and fail again.
