Why have I lost my no-claims discount when no claim has been made against my policy?

I’ve a second car with two years' NCD. The policy runs out at the end of June so I should now have three years' NCD at renewal. Last November, I’m driving home and a pedestrian runs off the road and clatters into the side of my car. Ambulance and police were called, the police find two witnesses who say I did nothing wrong and the pedestrian was in the wrong. I paid for the damage to my car to avoid losing my NCD. The cops said I had nothing to worry about as I wasn’t at fault. The guy signed himself out of hospital that night and was back at work a few days later.

I got my renewal today for my insurance and I’ve lost all my NCD. It says "claims and losses £tbc: accident damage - November 2009. 0 NCD." Before I phone up and lose it with the insurance company, where do I stand?

You had no claim. The pedestrian had no claim. So ask them what it is all about.
