Mazda 6 DPF regeneration frequency

My new Mazda 6 2.2 diesel auto regenerates it's DPF actively every 150-170 miles regardless of driving habits, is it programmed to do so?

Yes. In fact many latest generation DPFs are. You notice the instant fuel economy readout drop and stay low for 5 - 10 minutes. If you stop and get out you can smell the heat generated.
