DW8 engine - is it capable of high mileage?

I am thinking of buying a car with the DW8 engine. Are they capable of high mileage?

I get regularly taken to the airport by a taxi driver running a 406 with a 2.0 litre DW8 that has done 300,000 miles and still runs very smoothly. Specific problems with specific models with this engine are covered in the individual entries in www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar There is a Wikipaedia entry that tells you all the variations of it.
