Ford Focus - which wheels offer the best ride?

I own a 2009 Ford Focus and I understand that you recommend 16-inch wheels for a more comfortable ride. I am an elderly driver and am not bothered about the looks, so want to replace my 17-inch wheels. What do you recommend?

205/55 R16 on 16-inch alloys or 195/65 R15 on 15-inch steels or alloys.
