Discovered scratches on recently bought used car - Can I take it back after 2 weeks?

I purchased a 2011 Volvo V60 from our local dealer a few weeks ago. Before I agreed the sale, I walked around the car with the agent to inspect it – it looked almost flawless in the sun. However, two weeks later, when I washed the car, I noticed a number of marks and scratches on the passenger side. Could this be through over polishing before I bought it? Is there anything I can do to stop the problem getting worse or to get the dealership to fix it?

A private buyer is not expected to have the knowledge to look for and spot this sort of problem when making a purchase so yes, I think you are within your rights to expect the selling dealer to rectify it.
