Clutch failure - is my local garage to blame?
Two weeks ago the clutch pedal on my MG ZT 2.5 manual went. I took it to a garage who replaced both the master and slave cylinder. Before they started the work, the mechanic offered to replace the clutch too, but I declined as it seemed like a waste of money.
A week has now passed and the clutch has failed completely. Is this just bad luck, or should the garage have told me that the clutch needed doing as there was an increased risk as a result of the pedal going?

Plain stupid not to replace a clutch while the box is out. A clutch costs about £200. Separating the engine and gearbox costs about £400, which is why the (sensible) replacement was suggested.
