Does addblue solve low mileage dpf problems on diesels?

I want to buy an automatic Seat Alhambra but they only have diesel options. I had dpf problems with a Zafira diesel automatic we purchased in 2006 because of the type of urban driving we generally do, so had to swap for a petrol engine.

The Seat salesman has said the new Alhambra diesel has Addblue additive which solves this dpf problem completely.

I asked a VW salesperson the same question about the Sharan diesel auto (basically same as Alhambra but pricier) and he said Addblue only improves emissions and does not solve the dpf issues for low mileage urban cycle driving. He therefore recommends a petrol, which is an option for the Sharan.

I would prefer the Alhambra but not sure who is right. Any guidance?

Early DPFs were much worse than the latest generation. But VAG has not developed exhaust manifold in head diesel engines as Renault and Mazda have done. The AddBlue will help to an extend, but petrol will be better. The only problem with that is the distinctly dodgy Twincharger 1.4 petrol engine offered in the Alhambra and Sharan.
