Dealer trying to avoid warranty claim - what can I do?

I recently purchased a 2003 Audi A4 from a local garage. After driving the car for just a few days I noticed a clicking noise in first gear - I think it’s a chipped transmission tooth, which could be very expensive to repair.

I called the garage I bought the car from and was told to drive it around for two weeks as the problem may go away. The garage also said they would take out a warranty on the vehicle in my name.

Two weeks have passed and the fault still exists. I have spoken to the garage but nothing is happening. Is the garage trying to drag this out so the 30 day standard warranty is void?
I understand this is going to be an expensive repair and feel the garage may be trying to duck its obligations.

It is an illegal fraud to take out a warranty then claim on it to fix a fault that was present before the warranty was taken out. Do not sign anything that implicates yourself in this fraud.

Tell the dealer he can either fix it or give you your money back. In fact, because the fault was present when you bought the car the dealer is liable for this fault for six months from the date of sale. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
