VW Passat just had Turbo reconditioned

I have just had the turbo reconditioned on my 2008 Volkswagen Passat TDI to solve a fault code and associated limp mode. In the two weeks since the work was carried out the car has developed an intermittent problem where the engine revs every five seconds when idle. This only happens after 20 minutes or so of driving, when the car has warmed up, but is noticeable both inside and outside the vehicle.

I am concerned that the garage who carried out the work will state that this is not related to the turbo recondition and, as I have no technical knowledge, I could do with some advice regarding how to approach this.

At this age the injectors will be worn, so I would suspect them. They normally need replacing every 80,000 miles on a TDI 90 or 110 or they start to dribble.
