Should I sell my Honda Jazz and Volvo S60, and what should I replace them with?

I have a 2003 Honda Jazz petrol automatic showing 27,500 miles and a 2008 Volvo S60 diesel automatic with 22,350 miles on the clock (apparently quite high spec). Both cars are in good condition. I have been offered £3000 and £8000 respectively. Yesterday, I drove a new Mazda 2 petrol auto which I found really nice to drive and was thinking of looking at a Polo or Golf tomorrow. My dilemma is I have two well-maintained cars, one with so much on it, but it is big for me. I will be getting a lesser car and paying some extra money (which I don't mind) for a new car. I have kept my husband's car for a few months but feel I now need to make a decision. Hope I do not sound ridiculous and realise in the end the decision is mine but I would like some expert advice and ideas please.

Normally I'd say put the Jazz through www.sure-sell.info and p/x the Volvo, but £3000 is a good offer for a 2003 Jazz. £8000 is not so good for the Volvo, but it's still reasonable given the time of year and the fact these cars are not easy to sell. So the combined offer of £11,000 is fair. Mazda has downgraded the 3 automatic to a 1.6, but it's still a perfectly acceptable drive and likely to be far less trouble than a VAG car with a DSG automatic transmission.

There's a test of the latest Mazda 3 auto and a long distance test of the previous model 1.6 automatic here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road tests. You could, of course, also consider the latest Jazz automatic. It's grown up quite a lot since your car.
