Penalised for sleeping at motorway services - should I ignore the fine?
I recently received a parking charge notice after stopping for a sleep at Burtonwood Services on the M62. This was not a 'Pay And Display' car park and it was dark, so the driver could not be identified. The general consensus online seems to be to ignore them. Is this the right thing to do?

Yes. If you parked at a service area then you were obeying government instructions: "Tiredness can kill. Take a break." which applies as long as you remained in the service area. If you parked there and then went somewhere else, you are liable for breach of contract.
