Petrol or diesel for my mileage?

I am looking for a used car and do around 10,000 miles a year. I've been told that it is better to get a petrol, as such short mileage makes diesels uneconomical due to DPFs. Is this true of all diesels or did this only come in for a certain year? Are there any diesels that are more suitable for lower mileage?

Only true of EU5 diesels and all diesels from Jan 2011. Some EU4s also had DPFs.
