Fitting winter tyres to a Jaguar XF?

My daughter thinks that to put winter tyres on her Jag XF she has to go to Jaguar and buy four new wheels as well as the tyres and get Jaguar to change them over - at a cost - and store them.

I would have thought she could buy the tyres at any reputable dealer and just get them changed. She has plenty of space to store them.

If keeping the car, then better to buy a set of the smallest wheels that fit which are 17" and 235/55 R17 cold weather tyres. Current favourites are Continental Winter Contact TS850 and one school of thought says these can be left on all year round. That will probably save her money because they will last a lot longer than the 19" or 20" tyres that Jaguar fits to XFs.
