Excess road noise in my Mercedes-Benz

I have a 2008 Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI. It has done 19,000 miles and has newish Continental Tyres on 16-inch alloy wheels. I feel the road noise on anything less than a near perfect road is not what should be expected from a Mercedes, with lots of thump/thump type noise.

Quite possibly this is due entirely to the road surfaces.Has been checked by main dealer and no defect found (do not know on what roads they tried it). Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Probably is the road surfaces and gets worse as the tyres wear. But when the tyres are finished, try switching to Michelin Energy Plus.
