SEAT Altea heater rheostats failing

My 2006 SEAT Altea has now had four heater rheostats, the last one only surviving for four days. The blower works fine but only on speed four once the rheostat has failed. SEAT are demanding we pay for a full electrical diagnostic even though the part is under warranty. Is this part known for failing?

Yes, well known for failing on SEATs and Skodas. Get it fixed independently. Find a VAG independent repair specialist.
