I have a 2007 BMW E61 5 series Touring fitted with Dunlop SP Sport fronts and Goodyear Eagle rears both 245-40R18 93Y rated runflats (fitted by previous owner). It is now time for new tyres but I am unsure whether to replace with the same type or switch as I find the ride rather harsh compared to my previous E39 saloon with standard wheels/tyres. What would be your advice and what alternatives would you recommend (if any).

PS Thx to your advice I avoided the Mercedes E320 2004 which has now given the owner considerable problems.

Two ways to get a softer ride are to switch to 16" or 17" wheels with deeper profile tyres, or, for a smaller improvement, get out of runflats. But the latest runflats 225/45 R18 on the F30 3-Series actually give a decent ride.
