Cam follower/ tappet noise on a SEAT

The car was an elderly lady's car with 27,000 miles but has a tappet noise, it has had several oil changes and done about 1500 miles since with no reduction in the noise level.

Does this model have a seal problem or could it be wear at such a low mileage?

Are we looking at a replacement camshaft or other parts?

The tapping noise is the hyraulic tappets, which are most likely gummed up.

Well, firstly, does the tapping noise go away after a few minutes of the engine running? If so, just ignore it.

If the tapping noise continues then you have two choices, one is to use a hydraulic tappet cleaner ( =available from Halfords etc) and see if that works or you would have to have the hydraulic tappets removed and cleaned and then replaced (would require local garage to carry this out).

Do not be taken in by "need to replace camshaft etc."
