Regenerating my DPF

I seem to remember you saying that if there is a period of low speed, short journeys the engine should be run at 2000revs+ for a period of 15 minutes each week in order to regenerate the Particulate Filter.

My car is well worked in Summer, but with me being retired, not in Winter. If I am going to act on your advice, then:

1 Does the 15 minutes have to be under power, and

2 If so, is the 'continuous' requirement sacrosanct. In other words if I zip up the nearby Motorway for 10 minutes, and then come off, go round the roundabout and back down home again for another 10 minutes, would this suffice?

Yes. Needs to be at constant revs above 2,000rpm to be sure of allowing active regeneration. You'll see when it happens because the instant fuel economy readout will drop about 10mpg.
