Which petrol Jaguar XF would you recommend for low annual mileages?

I rather fancy an XF Jag. All the information on your site and elsewhere seems to concentrate on the diesel version. As I only potter around doing, say, 5000 miles a year, a diesel seems a bit problematic. Any thoughts on a three-year-old petrol version and, if so, which model to go for, bearing in mind early reliability issues?

The quad cam Ford 3.0V6 petrol is rare in XFs, but it’s an excellent engine and is still fitted to XJLs exported to China. The 4.2V8 and the 5.0V8 are quite juicy. There was (briefly) a supercharged 4.2V8. The 5.0XFR supercharged can be surprisingly economical. I got 29mpg on a 700-mile run. Trade prices for XFs start at around £15,000, but rise steeply.
