Why don't motorway service areas display which fuel brands they sell?

Advance signs for motorway service areas display the location, operator, main and subsidiary providers and facility icons, but not the fuel brand, which is very important for many drivers with fuel payment or loyalty cards. One of the icons often shown is a 'green' pump, which nowadays is totally superfluous. How simple it would be to leave this green-coloured to indicate BP sites, but change it to yellow for Shell and red for Esso? Problem so easily overcome.

I agree and we've brought this up before. While it's good to know a service area has a Costa Coffee and an M&S, if you are a fuel card holder for a single brand of fuel, it's essential to know what brand of fuel it carries. Particularly at service areas like Donington (BP) that requires a long diversion to get back onto the M1.
