Is £700 a reasonable price for four replacement wheels and winter tyres for my BMW 320i Coupe?

In the Winter/Spring issue of the BMW magazine, BMW announced that it was making available a winter tyre and wheel pack in the UK for the first time. For my 320i Coupe SE the cost of four replacement wheels and winter tyres would be £700. You regularly recommend a Summer/Winter changeover to your readers. This is something I have never done before. Do you think a charge of £700 is reasonable? Living near Heathrow do you think such an investment worthwhile in the West London area?

That's not bad at all. Some independents have got it down to around £450 for less prestigious cars, like Skodas. Remember, you’re using tyres anyway, so the only real cost is the extra set of wheels. BMW owners should be warned that the cost can escalate. I have seen a bill for £1,800 for a set of 18-inch winter tyres on 18-inch alloys.
