Is there a known turbo fault on VW Passat?

I have a 2007 Passat 2.0 SEL diesel. It has done 63,000 miles and the turbo needs replacing. Is this a known problem. VW have offered to pay 40% parts and 30% labour. Should I try and hold out for more or is this the best I can hope for. They have already agreed to pay the full cost of replacing an injector pump, so I'm not sure I should push my luck.

Quite common, yes. Comes from switching off when the turbo is red hot.
