Oil Useage

I Have a new Hyundai Santa Fe Premium on an 11-plate.
After 3,000 miles the oil warning light came on. Checking the dipstick it was out of oil.

I phoned the local Hyundai garage and they said to top it up which is what I did. The light then went out.

I had the vehicle into the dealers in order to check it out and they could not find anything wrong (apart from cruise control switch on the clutch was faulty). They did say that some Santa Fe's do use some oil up to the first service. But I put a whole litre of oil after only 3,000 miles. Should I be worried?

I am not used to having to put oil into an engine, my 02 Mondeo TDCI has never needed a top up.

Only start worrying if you have to do this repeatedly.
