Advice on nippy, small, frugal car?

I'm looking for a new car.

I currently drive an 02 Focus 115 TDCi and it's getting about 30 to the gallon as I'm always in traffic to and from college.

I'd like something that gets more to the gallon but at the same time nippy, about 0-60 in 10 seconds or under would be great as overtaking and pulling out is always a pain near where I live and it comes in handy.

It needs to have four seats, three or five doors is fine.

I'm looking for diesel but would consider petrol
Cars i have looked at are:
Mitsubishi colt 1.5 DI-D
Corsa 1.7 sri cdti
Fabia vrs

Any help would be great. There may be models I haven't thought to look at yet.

Hyundai i10 1.2 Active, now with more power and lower emissions, so £20 tax and you'll get 50mpg if you take it a bit easier.
