Unfair parking fine

I parked in a Euro car park behind Marks and Spencers in Lymington. It is also joined on to a car park owned by the council.

I parked in a space and, thinking it was one big car park, I then purchased a ticked from the nearest pay point.

On returning to my car I had a parking fine on my windscreen for £50 if paid in 7 days £70 after. The reason for the fine was due to having 'an invalid ticket displayed.'

I think this is unfair because the parking attendant watched me park there and go to purchase the ticket.

Where do I stand on this matter?

That was clearly deliberate entrapment so write to M&S (copy to Euro Car Parks) complaining about your treatment by M&S's agent, stating that you are happy for the case to go to the small claims track of the county court where you will offer your defence.
