Sell car with or without MOT?

I have a Renault Clio, 51 reg, which has done 130,000 miles.

The clutch failed in January 2011 which cost me approx £600 to get repaired. I meant to sell it shortly afterwards but didn't get around to it.

It has now failed its MOT and have been quoted £400 to get it repaired and roadworthy.

I no longer need the car. What would you suggest would be the best way to sell the car? Should I pay for the MOT repairs or try and sell it without a valid MOT? And which method of selling would you recommend?

If you sell it with a failed MoT it's worth practically nothing and you have to be careful to mention on the bill of sale that the car is sold "for scrap and in unroadworthy condition. If the purchaser wishes to drive it on the road he must first repair it to roadworthy condition."
