Is there cheap car insurance for over 70s?

I need to renew my car insurance on the my Toyota Auris and as I approach 70 in August I’m keen to obtain a competitive costing. Go Compare and Confused.com have both offered 40-50 options, including the cheapest at £547 annually.

I wondered whether you could advise me as a pensioner, if there are better deals out there for us ‘seniors’?

Unfortunately drivers aged between 60 and 70 years old get the cheapest insurance premiums, so once you are 70 and above you will likely find your premiums start to go up.

Using comparison sites is a good start, but we would also recommend contacting insurers directly such as AXA, Direct Line and RIAS.
