How much will it cost to transfer vehicle ownership to my wife?

My wife and I own two cars. Both are registered and insured under my name. We're getting older and one of us will probably stop driving. To simplify the sole driver's jobs, we'd like to know which problems which may arise if I switch one of the vehicle's details to my wife's name. Will the insurance be more expensive? Aret there any other costs we need to be aware of?

We recommend speaking to the individual insurers as you'll likely find that different policies have different outcomes on this one. They'll be able to advise without that affecting your renewal cost. However you may well find that the cost of the insurance increases as your wife technically doesn't have the no claims discount (NCD) and making a change to an additional policy usually carries an admin fee of about £50. Changing the name on the registration documents should be fairly simple, though.
