Rip off Britain?

I have just returned from Tenerife, a Spanish island in the Atlantic, miles from anywhere. Diesel fuel is 0.844 cents per litre or about £0.75 pence per litre. I filled up this morning with fuel which was double that price.

Have the Brits done something wrong here? Or am I just being stupid?

That's because the Canary Islands are not subject to the same taxes as mainland Spain, or mainland Europe or the UK. And just remember, UK taxes have to pay off a £77,000 National Debt for each and every person in Cloud Cuckoo Land (the UK).
