Insurance refusing to repair a Cat D vehicle

I was involved in an accident whereby a lady hit my vehicle from the back and admitted fault. I passed the details onto my insurance company and I got a call from enterprise rental who supplied me with a hire car. Yesterday I got a call from my insurance company offering me a cash settlement so that i can repair the vehicle. I advised that I have no experience in this field and would prefer that they repaired the vehicle.

My insurance company are saying that as my car is a Cat D (which i told them before i got in insured) they do not have to repair it and can offer me cash settlement. They advised that the vehicle was badly repaired and that it is not worth the insurance to repair it. The fact is that I had my car inspected by Autolign who have certifed the vehicle as being repaired to a high standard and my vehicle has since been removed from the "condition alert register" to "condition inspected register".

The insurance company is still refusing to repair the vehicle and are asking me to sort out the repairs. The thing is that what they are offering me will not be enough for me to repair the vehicle and cover my costs while I take time off work to sort the vehicle out...

Where do I stand on this?

Take the cash settlement, repair the car yourself, and get out of the rental car immediately.

My car is a Cat S write off. How do I get it off the register? All repairs have been done but my insurance quotes are ridiculous so I need it off the register.
