Selling at auction - the dealer has told me not to do it

I'm interested in selling my 2002 Clio Renaultsport 172 at auction as your advocating sure sell as a good idea. I suggested this to a few dealers, as opposed to part exchanging my car, and they said not to do it.

They said as soon as dealers see it's a private car for sale no dealer will bid on it as they dont know what could be wrong with it. I can't believe this, as if this is the case where do dealers actually get their cars from?

Depends who is there on the day. Usually there is a fight for a car like this with trade and public bidding against each other. The dealers have given you a line because they want an advantage. They don't want to have to compete for a car.
