Left-foot braking
I have read many times in your Saturday column about left-foot braking with automatics.
As you suggested, I tried it on a quiet road and I'm glad I did. I nearly went through the windscreen.
Unlike the right foot which has had many years of controlled use, the left hasn't.
I have absolutely no control with the left foot.
Am I doing something wrong?

You just have yet to learn brain and foot co-ordination. You can do it. Though it might take some practise. Might be an idea to spend a few quid doing half an hour go-karting because they are right foot accelerator, left foot brake.
