Am I still entitled to the £2,500 plug-in car grant?

I paid a £500 deposit to secure an electric car from a main dealer, pending the financial arrangements being made. This was on 12 December. I was also given a lease contract statement which states valid for 21 days.

Now that the Government changed the electric vehicle grant, the dealer insists they have to make a different lease contract which removes the entire £2,500 grant.

My opinion is that I committed to buy the car before the grant was cut and should therefore be entitled to the £2,500.
