Reduction theory

We are reducing our two cars to one. I have a BMW 1 Series, three years old; my wife a Peugeot 205, five years old. Can you advise of any car about the size of the 205, but of the same quality of the BMW. My wife finds the BMW's rather large for her, to drive.

This will be a 206, not a 205, and the current 207 is a far nicer car. Quality is up on many cars these days. My FIAT 500 is as well built
as an Audi, and with better paint quality. But maybe a new model VW Polo will meet the spec. Not very exciting to drive but a very well considered and mature car, and one that comes with a full-sized spare wheel. For more fun, go for a Suzuki Swift 1.5GLX or a Mazda 2 1.3TS2 (those are both very specific engine sizes and models).
