Traffic frights

Our village is bisected by a busy B road carrying 10,000 vehicles a week. The 30 mph speed limit is completely ignored. It is dangerous for schoolchildren to cross when getting on or off the bus. I live in an enclave of 12 residences half a mile outside the village and as there is no pavement we cannot access the pub, postbox, or mobile library. Installing one will be difficult and expensive due to the terrain. We are requesting speed cameras and 'table ramps', and a crossing but would be interested to hear your opinion on the situation.

Far better, speed-sensitive stop lights through the village with cameras on the stop-lights. That then punishes the really bad drivers without annoying everyone. Trucks crossing table ramps will shake up the foundations of old buildings. Speed cushions destroy car tyres and suspension systems, potentially causing death crashes later in their journeys.
