I filled up my 2007 Mondeo TDCI with diesel as usual. Over a period of 4 days, including long distance motorway, running I experienced a number of issues. I had trouble starting, the engine would rev on its own rather than idle, plus power was down. My car has been in the garage for 2 weeks and needs new fuel injectors, new top rail and fuel pump, plus probably other parts. It’s now an insurance claim. I'm pretty sure I know which garage was involved. What recourse do I or my insurer have? We do have a sample of the contaminated diesel. Also what other problems might I expect as a result of the damage?

Presumably the old shape TDCI? Yes, the injection pumps and injectors of these are vulnerable to lack of lubricity in the fuel. So yes, talk to your insurer about having the sample from your tank analysed,
and if you have only bought fuel from the same fuel station, and have the receipts to prove it, then a case can be made against the fuel station.
