For the sake of the party

A friend came to help us prepare for a big party and went to the local M&S to pick up some pre-ordered food (£200 worth). She unthinkingly parked in their disabled space and went to collect the food. She arrived back to find a ‘parking charge notice’. M&S says that Euro Car Parks is operating the car park on its behalf but what law have we broken? Under what pretext can this penalty be enforced? It seems to me that the answer is none but I should like your views.

You have not broken any law. All they can get you for is a breach of a contract. The contractual consideration in this case is the money spent on the food. Best to appeal to M&S to tell Euro car parks to revoke the ticket. But you did park in a disabled space. And to some (disabled) people that's a hanging offence.
